Happy b'day Urth, and nice shout-out from AL.

You've been going through some rough times, and I know it's a little thing, but I hope it put a smile on your face. 8)

It did indeed, and thanks to y'all for such a resounding batch of birthday wishes! I am determined to make this a good birthday, recent events notwithstanding! And Annalisa's birthday greeting was a nice touch as well. I wasn't sure if the B-urth-day club was still a going concern when I e-mailed her yesterday, but she said sure, she'd give me an on-air mention. So I was quite pleased that she remembered.

ETA: Btw, I had nothing to do with the choice of sets--she'd already picked the VT for today's selection, but I am pretty happy with her choice, particularly since I got '82 on more than one occasion (as Mike noted). I do remember getting a '69 set one year, but that was a while back.

Going to have to vote a 10-way tie I think--these have been some pretty great selections all the way around.

OMG! Here's a bustout for the ages--Herman's Hermits! I saw Peter Noone aka Herman in about 1980 with a new wave band called the Tremblers--he looked almost the same as in 67, but with a better haircut. And yeah, they did this. Don't remember if they threw in Mrs. Brown You've Got a Lovely Daughter.
Let's get right to it.

There's a kind of hush all over the world tonight.
All over the world you can hear the sounds of lovers in love.
La-la-la-la-la-la-la
La-la-la-la-la-la-la-la
La-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la
La-la-la-la-la

shouldn't that sound be oooh, aaaah, aaaah-AAAAAH!!!!

Gaz sez: "WOS to one of the stupidest songs ever written"

I sez: respect Ms Greenwich!

AL does! A shoutout to Ellie G., as it should be.
Let's get right to it.

Happy "Urth"-day!  It's a '60s VT (sorry I refuse to call it "Chartbusters")

   2.  1961 - Roy Orbison - Cryin'
   3.  1962 - The Drifters - Up on the Roof
   4.  1963 - Johnny Cash - Ring of Fire (BOS!!!)
   5.  1964 - Manfred Mann - Do Wah Diddy
   6.  1965 - Sonny & Cher - I Got You Babe
   7.  1966 - Lovin' Spoonful - Daydream
   8.  1967 - Herman's Hermits - There's a Kind of Hush
   9.  1968 - Mama's & the Papas - Twelve-thirty (Young Girls Are Coming to the Canyon)
 10.  1969 - The Guess Who - These Eyes

BONUS TRACK:  1970 - Norman Greenbaum - Spirit in the Sky

Intern misspellings of the day: "Same" Cooke and Manfred "Man", man.

WOS to Sam Cooke (I don't like his voice, and I don't like this song) but yay for Jimbo!

wow, the only person in human history who doesn't like Sam Cooke's voice -- and WE got him!  ;)

BOS the Big "O"!
yeah, I was gasping as I read Gaz' comments! Sam is the man!
Don't stand in the way of LOVE!
