I wish I was "token" right now....

Heh. "Green Fairy".

Now this is getting my swerve on.

BOS to Rockpile, When I Write the Book. A bust-out, no?
Let's get right to it.

BOS (but a weak one) to Rockpile, which is Gaz's WOS  I suppose. The one example of Dave topping The Peak (they played "Teacher Teacher" this morning).

This "When I Write the Book" is a breakout for me.  I kinda like it for the backing vox.

But I'm suddenly struck with the fear that Dave's gonna close this set with "One Trick Pony."

A fair guess, to be sure, but this works for me, as it's clearly not Dave Edmunds on the lead vocals.

BOS2 Zevon -- today's "Spot the Vinyl" I believe, which seems to have become a regular thing.

Well, I gotta say: Dave's pulled some less-played stuff for the latter part of this here 1980 set. At least less-played to these ears.

I Swear To God I'll Change!

It's a good thing Warren got a lot of love before he passed, because he truly shoulda gotten a lot more love during the first 20 years of his career than he did.

A near-WOS to a drunken Zevon for phoning it in.  Like Hunter S. Thompson, he gets a pass on his uninspired stuff b/c he cuts such an indelible figure and the awful stuff seems part of his "persona."

Exactly what are your criteria for dishing pop/rock performers for being drunk?

And what's the point exactly?

So Gimme Katrina. OK song but I'm tired of it. Haven't recovered from the overplay 25 years ago.

ooo that was harsh.  Not my fave Zevon tune, mind you -- I'd've preferred "Jeannie Needs a Shooter".

I dock them points if their substance use leads them to release singles consisting of one verse repeated three times, with a single hook riding the entire way.  Just seemed like he put no effort into that one, and that's where I pull out the claws.
