Agreed on all your observations.  I guess The Daily Show fills this void/need now.

As for the cast:

Arte Johnson went the game-show circuit, appearing regularly on "The Gong Show" and occasionally on "Hollywood Squares."  Pretty much retired since the early '80s, I suppose.  (The worst nightmare I ever had, btw, was that I was watching a game show with Arte Johnson guesting, and the contestant that lost reappeared on-air holding the set hostage.  They kept airing it live and I couldn't stop watching.  Woke up and shivered for a day.)

Ruth Buzzi helped liven up children's education by joining the cast of "The Electric Company."  I believe Henry Gibson did the same for a little while, but I know he continued TV guest appearances through the '90s.  Joanne Worley did "The Gong Show" and "The Love Boat" like everyone else, and now does a guest appearance on a TV show every five years or so.  Theresa Graves, as we discussed a few days ago, did "Get Christie Love," then more or less retired, and died a year or two ago.  (I remember this because Mike posted a snarfy headline, 'Cancer Gets Christie Love,' or somesuch.)

No idea what Alan Seus did.  Or that silly Goldie Hawn.  Or the fantabulous dancer Byron Gilliam.  Or whether Judy Carne's still in jail.


Henry Gibson really wrote those poems he used to recite; I believe he published at least one volume of 'em. And of course he was in Altman's great Nashville.  Ms Worley was in the area about 6 months ago, touring in On the Twentieth Century. Judy Carne was married to Burt Reynolds early on. And yes, Goldie will be on KFOG Monday plugging her autobio.

Henry had several pre and post Laugh In guest appearances where he read his poems, including one on the Dick Van Dyke show and, of course, on The Love Boat.

If you tuned in after I posted this, you missed 1969.  1976 came next; I wonder if 1981 is coming later or if Dave started early (I tuned in at 10:30 EST and missed "Try and "Hang 'Em High," dammit).

I should also add that in "Man Smart, Woman Smarter," I have finally found a song with steel drums that I like!  Very clever structure to that one.

Another thing I learned last weekend: Philippe Wynne's first name is pronounced as if it were "Felipe."  Anyone know why he did this?  (It's not his birth name.)

I honestly don't remember hearing 15 freakin minutes of Dreamboat Annie, but being as my ever-increasing workload dictates that I actually work while the set is going on, that makes me not the most reliable of sources.

Yesterday's Soul Patrol is on now, so the chrono-marathon thing is officially 86'd. They played the three best sets first--if that pattern continues, 1981 should be next, and 89 will wrap it up.

Dave didn't actually play 15 minutes of DA, he just joked about it in his back-announce b/c the song's so short.

I'm leaving in a few minutes for my softball doubleheader: I play at 2 and 5 EST, so I'll be done around 7 EST, 4 PST.  Hope to talk to you all this evening during partaytime!
