The Peak, 2/13/09: Happy 59th Birthday, Peter Gabriel!
« on: February 13, 2009, 07:03:12 AM »
10 from PG, who shares a birthday with Peter Tork, Robbie Williams, and Henry Rollins.  Who I'm sure would have a lot to talk about if they were all ever gathered in a room together.
“The choir of children sing their song.  They've practiced all year long.  Ding dong.  Ding dong.  Ding dong.”

I'd call everything in this set "inevitable."  Not that it's a bad catalog!  But would love to get one live track or surprise.

I know what I like in *his* wardrobe!

When I was working for RadioSpy in 1999-2000, my colleague Sean went to his house to interview him.  He answered the door in his underwear.

Re "Sledgehammer," for years I mondegreed "Chauffeur me / I will chauffeur you" as "Show for me / I will show for you."

BOS to "Down to Earth," from Wall-E, which was NTM.  Thanks, Rob!

Yes! So did I! (It makes perfect sense to me, in context)

And here I always thought *I* was mondegreening it by singing it as 'chauffeur', all the while assuming the correct lyric was 'show for'.

oops, wait a minute -- Gaz confused me.  I also thought "chauffeur", but most lyric sites say it is "show for".  And I really do think "chauffeur" makes more sense.

And PG has withdrawn from performing the song at the Oscars next week -- he says he was being offered only "65 seconds" to perform a snipptet of it as part of a medley with the other 2 nominees.
