Not to sound too cynical, but since about the Who song, I've been having the escalating feeling that I've heard this set before. The Who, Bruce, REM, Randy Newman, and even the Elvis--all great songs and worthy sentiments, but I just feel like this is a bit of a rehash.

That's what Fogheads do -- they rehash.  With a rehash pipe.

Well, it is a Foghead-generated list. And Dave's lurking & heard you, Urth! Notice how he stressed Foghead-generated. Heh.
Not likely, but we can dream, eh?

I think Randy Newman's brilliant, but I can't help but feel there's at least as much he owes to Tom Lehrer as George Harrison owes to the Chiffons.

Damn, missed a pretty good set, it seems.  One of the fun things about reading the posts after the fact is that you get to try to rebuild the song list in your head.  Not sure yet what the Springsteen or Randy Newman songs are...

My pick for the set would have been Barry Maguire's (McGwire, McGuire?) "Eve of Destruction."  Of course, since Bush is probably big on the Apocalypse and all, he'd think it a positive thing...

Hey, Rod. Love the new avvy.

The Springsteen song was his cover of "War" and the neuman song was "Let's Drop the Big One" or something like that. It was the first time I ever heard it so I'm not 100% on the title.

seriously? that was the Annalisa Bonus Track?  I'm impressed. Can't remember the last time that got played on the radio. Dave's not really big on the Plastic Ono Band stuff at all -- I'd love to hear "Power to the People" some morning.

Yeah. I'm pretty sure it is. Like I said- I'm not all that into Randy Newman.

Y'know, Spam-A-Lot, the musical based on MP & the Holy Grail, is, like, the hottest ticket on B'way.  You can't go wrong with a MP musical starring Tim Curry.

Curry, David Hyde-Pierce and Hank Azaria. And some bitchin' babe whose name I can't recall.  Directed by Mike Nichols, no less. And Eric Idle wrote & produced.
