Pop Quiz - for 7 frink pts, what was the significance of "Kashmir" in the movie Fast Times At Ridgemont High?
Mike Damone tells our hero to play it when he wants to get her in the mood.
Scene cuts to them in the car on the way to dinner, but I think the song he's playing on the tape deck is actually When The Levee Breaks.
Oooooh, SO close. I'll give you 5 frink pts.
Damone tells Ratt to play Side 1 of Led Zeppelin IV ("Black Dog", "Rock 'N' Roll", "Battle Of Evermore" & "Stairway To Heaven") to get Stacy in the mood, and the scene cuts to them in the car with "Kashmir" blaring (and both kids looking more than a little uneasy).

First of all Rat, you never let on how much you like a girl. "Oh, Debbie. Hi." Two, you always call the shots. "Kiss me. You won't regret it." Now three, act like wherever you are, that's the place to be. "Isn't this great?" Four, when ordering food, you find out what she wants, then order for the both of you. It's a classy move. "Now, the lady will have the linguini and white clam sauce, and a Coke with no ice." And five, now this is the most important, Rat. When it comes down to making out, whenever possible, put on side one of Led Zeppelin IV.
One of the great inside jokes in the history of cinema, imho. Either you get it or you don't even know a joke has been made.
Ah, I forgot the side 1 part. But yeah, it was one of the laugh out loud moments for me when I first saw the movie.
Pheobe Cates makes another (disparaging) LZ reference later when discussing the difference between high school boys and older guys.
