To answer an earlier question, today I have cast official votes with Dave.  Yes 'votes' - two for Madonna & then two more for The Cult*.


*voted by phone for Madonna & then sent an email from my Yahoo! account.  Then Dave shocked me even more, so I voted by email from my work address & phoned in a vote - in a deeper voice, mind you - for the Cult.

Okay, so there are definitely some Katrina's in this set, but any '89 set that has Madonna, Cult & "Dirty Boulevard" is an instant classic.

Wit'cha, Mike. This was one of the better songs on Nick of Time--and didn't get near the airplay that several others did. Written by Bonnie Hayes, who some of y'all may remember from her band Bonnie Hayes and the Wild Combo, who were a club mainstay around here in the mid-80s.

Unless I miss my guess this TFF (VHM, btw) is tune #10.  Which means we had a set in the year of Katrina's* that was Katrina-free, and also included 2 major bustouts - and this was the first time Dave has played The Cult full stop.  Kudos & then some.

*there are 35 sets in the DB from '89, yet the following 7 songs have 70 appearances between them:

I'm guessing that "No Myth" gets some 1990 spins too -- if you counted '89 & '90 together, it certainly seems like a Katrina.  And DelAmitri has gotta be closing in.  But yeah, given Dave's history in this year, I give him a B+.
