Looks like they started on time for once; I just missed the first set so I don't know what it was (hoping it was '90).

Now they just played the back-announce only for "Strictly Instrumental" WTF???

OK, so apparently set # 1 was Instrumentals...  they just separated the backannounce and/or played it twice.  Just heard '83 and now we're getting '90 :-(

But Dave says '74 and '67 are still to come.

Yep, '90 just concluded (the set I mostly missed this week) & so I hadn't heard Dave claim that a Foghead called in to say that he thought the early 90's were a 'musical wasteland, but this set is proving me wrong'.  This must have been a newbie listening to his first 1990 set, is the only thing I can think.

Psyched up for '74 & '67 coming last, hopefully Urth is up & at 'em!

indeed, "Genesis when they were good".  I generally like them in this period, but that weird sonic effect on his vocals is kinda annoying.

I can't tell you how many years my circle of friend's tried to figure out that line.  I think it's spelled 'squonk' since I eventually bought a Steely
Dan songbook, although you can't trust these guys anyhoo!  Did it ever get explained?

interestingly, there's a Genesis connection ("Squonk" is a song on Trick of the Tail). But a squonk is a mythical creature:

I believe this was the song they did on the Smothers Brothers show, and did the whole destroying the instruments shtick at the end of the song.  I recall having my young mind blown at the time.

In a manner of speaking. Was awakened before 7 by starving felines, so when I got up to feed the little bastards, I turned on the recorder and went back to bed 'til the tag end of the '90 set (just about the time you made the above post, Mark). But when I was up starting things off, I listened to enough to know that the marathon hadn't started yet. So it would seem I got the entire marathon for a change (not that I plan on keeping all of it), which it appears was played in chronological order for a change.

Maybe the board op who works Saturday mornings finally got the memo about the later start time. <g>
