#1 - the new Talk format has started on 106.9... The Doghouse has returned (in mornings on a "trial basis", to be replaced by Adam Carolla in Jan.), along with Darian O'Toole and John London.

#2 - from Brad Kava's blog, K-Fox (98.5) is playing an hour of "sheep music" in honor of the time change this weekend -- an "extra hour of sheep", get it?

So what is "sheep music"? well... Pink Floyd ("Sheep")... Genesis ("Lamb Lies Down on Broadway")... Stevie Ray Vaughn ("Mary had a Little Lamb)...

Wow. I wonder if there will be impact on the KFOG programming. Dave's new 8-year contract? Less local flexibility?

I think it was a 3-year contract, and it probably doesn't hold in the event of a  station sale.  But for the time being, I don't expect changes.

The only way there'll be fast and noticeable changes is if (a) the SF market is doubled up as a result (which I don't believe it is, and even if it were, KFOG and its staff would be the preferred brand) and (b) if a union entity has been acquired by a nonunion entity (and I have no idea where Susquehanna or Cumulus Media fall on that top).

Any similarities between this acquisition and that of the Voice by New Times are purely coincidental.

interesting item from 960 The Quake:  they've picked up the syndicated show "Broadway's Biggest Hits" (formerly heard on KABL) and will run it Sunday nites at 7.  It replaces a show about motor sports. So somebody at the Quake decided (tongue-in-cheek, perhaps?) that show tunes were a better lead-in to their weekly gay show ("Queer Channel") than NASCAR had been.

I can't decide if that's absolutely brilliant or incredibly lame.

Sometimes the truth is lame.

And sometimes stereotypes become stereotypes because there's a sliver of truth to them.

And I know a whole lot more Broadway queens than NASCAR queens.  Especially on radio, where one can't ogle Gordon & Earnhardt (sp?).

OK, so I knew it was Guy Fawkes Day, but I didn't realize it was the 400th Anniversary (1605).  KPIG celebrated by playing John Lennon's "Remember" (remember... the 5th of November), and I can't, er, recall the last time I heard that song on the radio.

I can't remember which of y'all have satellite radio (or have experienced it regularly), but I got an email from my friend at XM with an offer that gets me their Audiovox XCS2 reciever (for home or car) for FREE. So I figure why not?  Any thoughts?  (their other, more high-end receivers are also avail to me at a discount; obviously the subscription is extra.)

Before shuffling off to bed, I have to mention that Little Steven opened his show with "Shake Some Action" -- I'd forgotten it was produced by Dave Edmunds.

His opening set also included The Turtles' "Outside Chance", one of their rarely-heard tracks, which was an early Warren Zevon composition.

For those of you jonesin' to hear a dozen different versions of "White Christmas", KOIT switched to their annual all-Xmas-all-the-time format over the weekend.

So I popped into the convenience store in my building just now. They've switched from KOIT to Star 101 (presumably to avoid the nonstop Xmas music) and Sylvia Chacon (formerly of KFRC) is now on Star.  She was reading a blurb about the American Music Awards and she called the Eurythmics "the Arrhythmics".  Maybe Annie & Dave should do a cover of "Heartbeat"
