BOS The Last Picture Show, the speech that won Ben Johnson his Oscar.

"...being crazy about a woman like her is always the right thing to do."

but it don't come easy.  BOS2 Mr Johnson; VHM Ringo -- we've heard this one a lot lately in various time zones.

that tobacco guy's gonna step on you again!

My mother was actually advised by her doctor to take up smoking when she was pregnant with me - "it'll relax you," he assured her.  I popped out at a robust 5 lbs.  In ancient Roman times I'd have been thrown off a cliffside.  THANKS, DR. GOLDBLUM!

(PS: Said doctor was the actor Jeff Goldblum's father.)
I was a small baby too. Parents smoked. Sad to say my mom still smokes and just can't kick it or really just doesn't want to. Just had surgery last week for tumor which doc directly correlated to smoking. Pisses me off.

Such a great film, and possibly nothing since it has captured the same sense of place until No Country For Old Men.  Also the film debuts of Cybil Shepard & Randy Quaid.

I, on the other hand, was a huge baby, 10 lbs, and that was because they didn't know then what they do now about prenatal diet.  My mom undoubtedly had gestational diabetes.
