OMG, that Spyder Turner song is a trip.  "If Sam Cooke were here, he might sing it like this."  And I'm all, like, who the fuck are you to say how Sam Cooke would sing ANY damn thing?  And he ends up singing them all about the same anyway.

i think it depends on which version you're listening to. i don't know the bands names, so i'll be simple: the black version sounds like ruth/tooth, the white version sounds like roux/tattoo; i think it's because the brits didn't pronounce the "th?"

Floatin in a river with a saturated liver
And I wish I could forget it but I do believe she meant it

ha! no he doesn't... :) i think my favorite is his billy stewart impersonation. maybe the chuck jackson...i've heard two versions of the song. one seems to be more radio-friendly - i don't know why i think so. anyhow that version is much less outstanding than the 45 version i have. he really goes to town on the impersonations on the 45.

Oh, wow: I don't recognize this song with Stephen Stills singing the lead -- is it Buffalo Springfield or the Mojo Men? -- but I love it already.  Did Bowie nick this riff a bit for "Rebel Rebel," or is it just me?
