BOS # whatever, "If You See Her, Say Hello"

(but I had suggested "Buckets of Rain")

I haven't heard this in many a moon -- I'm getting chills, as this entire LP is a bit of a sledgehammer.

Dammit, Janet!  10-way-tie for BOS.

Another nod from Ginger--time is fleeting...

It's just a jump to the left...
Let's get right to it.

well, here come the Iggles to ruin Gaz's 10-way tie. But it's also a Sledgehammer for me.

This song brings back some distinct memories of the winter of '75 for me too--perhaps because this was EVERYWHERE for a few months. And likely the song that turned their career around--after Take It Easy they didn't exactly burn up the charts, until this song came along. (I'd check that fact, but as usual AMG's front door is even slower to load than CNET's.)

ETA: OK finally got in, but according to AMG they didn't have any singles that charted prior to Take It To the Limit in '76--that certainly can't be right. And still pages are slower than christmas to load--I'm on a freakin' T1 line and you'd think I was on dial-up.

I posted on that very subject a while back -- it indeed saved their career. "Already Gone", the first single from On the Border, was a chart disappointment (peaked in the 20's somewhere, iirc) and "James Dean" missed the Top 40 altogether.  Asylum was feeling desperate, so they gave this ballad a big push.

I think it's more accurate to say that this was the song that took them to the proverbiual next level.  All of their albums had charted well and had spawned hit singles, but BOML was their first #1, and gave them the momentum that sent One Of These Nights into the stratosphere.
