Bwhahaha! that never occurred to me, but I can totally understand you thinking that.  1972 was a bit too soon for a Lesley Gore hommage to be fully appreciated, but it was the best LG imitation since Patty Duke's "Don't Just Stand There" and would stand until Tracey Ullman's "They Don't Know" came along in '84.

Crazy KFRC 1550AM has shifted its start of AT40 from 7AM to 8AM Sunday morning.  I wish AT40 would air on FM in Bay Area for better signal quality, as I like to tape the show.

indeed, if I'd known i wouldn't've set my alarm for 7. Hard to tell if this is a permanent switch or a techie error.

I still love the Boy George version. Arguably David Gates' most heartfelt lyric, since it's about his late dad.

But Gawd! Robert John's "Lion Sleeps Tonite" is easily near the top of my list of most worthless covers evah.

A chart, ageless and evergreen...

2nd one in a month to have Babs at #1, but with lots of gems (Barry M in New England, Glenn C in the South) and more than a few WTF? moments ("Disco Lucy", anyone?).  And it all begins with Rose Royce's great "I wanna Get Next To You", which i always assumed Whitfield had sitting in a drawer since '71 or so -- it's got follow-up-to-"Just My Imagination" written all over it.
