KFRC screwed up yet again -- they're playing last week's 1975 chart.
So I'm in W.Virginia for 1983... wow, how many songs stayed at #40 for 3 consecutive weeks? Not many, I'll wager. But here's Night Ranger (pre-"Sister Christian") doing just that with "Don't Tell Me You Love Me"

BOS1 ABC's fab "Poison Arrow". She comes when she comes. Well, duh.

WOS Steel Breeze -- despite the imprimatur of Kim Fowley. Mr Fowley is played by Oscar nominee Michael Shannon in The Runaways, which opens Friday.

Adam Ant wants to put something subtle in you end-o.
WOS2 LoverSagaBoy, "Turn Me On The Loose" -- c'mon, have you ever seen both bands in the same room at the same time?
WOS3 ATF's worthless Komissar Kover; WOS4 Sammy Hagar "Your Love is Making me Drive 55".
But a big BOS2 to Musical Youth, passing around the pot -- the cooking pot. Git yer mind outta the gutter.

VHM EWF, doing what they do best on the unjustly forgotten "Fall in Love With Me".
BOS3 Mr Joel in "Allentown"; uber-BOS4 Frida (feat Phil C on drums) "There's Something Going On"
wait... Casey sez that "Allentown" was at #17 for 6 consecutive weeks?? WTF?

The Vandenberg and Donna Summer were new to me. As was the instantly forgettable Supertramp tune - but did you know that, per the video, their lead singer for a while was Luke Wilson? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IAh7_qH0YFA

6 weeks. It fell the following week. Also during this period, Kenny Loggins (his song fell out of the top 40 that week) had "Heart to Heart" peak at 15 for 5 weeks.

This week, Casey's '70s visits 1978... again. ( March 11th 1978) http://www.charismusicgroup.com/Cue%20Sheets/03-11-78.pdf except for a couple of debuts (Enchantment, VH and the pre- Golden Girls incarnation of "Thank You For Being a Friend"), just about every song was in the '78 show we heard a month ago. and the '80s chart will be from March 15th 1980 -- the smallest possible gap between the 2 shows... http://www.charismusicgroup.com/Cue%20Sheets/03-15-80.pdf '80 is more interesting: the Knack's shameless "Sharona" knockoff, "Baby Talks Dirty", Peaches & Herb's shameless "Reunited" knockoff "I Pledge My Love", Dr Hook's shameless BeeGees rip "Sexy Eyes" and -- voila! ---"An American Dream"!

Since Neil Diamond thinks The 3rd of June = Summer, I'm guessing "September Morn" was recorded on August 12th. I had the '80s show on the computer and the '70s version on the radio in the bathroom, and I heard "How Deep is Your Love" twice in less than 15 minutes. VHM Toto's ode to Barbara Feldon

Voila! -- an American BOS from the NGDB feat Ms. Ronstadt. "It's as easy as clothes in your eyes"
Flashback-of-the-week: Chuck Mangione's "Give it all You've Got", his Winter Olympics theme which I truly have not heard since 1980.
VHM the Iggles fine "I Can't Tell You Why", but -- watch out! -- Christopher Cross is about to break "Wind".

BOS3 Ms Ronstadt's 2nd appearance of the day on "How Do I Make You", the first hit written by Billy Steinberg, who went on to be quite the superstar songwriter: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Billy_SteinbergHe fared a bit better than the Mad Love LP's other discovery, Mark Goldenberg (what was it with Linda and Jewish guys?), whose group The Cretones provided no less than 3 tunes on the album.
