Damn, I haven't heard the Staples' "Oh La Di Da" in decades -- am I crazy or does this sound like the Osmonds' "Down By The Lazy River"?  And it's followed by the Ohio Players' first, "Funky Worm". Like 9 cans o' shaving powder!

wow, I'd forgotten that the J-5's "Hallelujah Day" was a the-troops-are-coming-home-from-Vietnam anthem! And the Ronnie Dyson hit Gaz mentioned ("One Man Band [Plays All Alone]"), was a Thom Bell production.

I still have the 3-disc vinyl "Anthology" from the mid-'70s, which made me very popular at my college radio station. It had every charted J-5 single up to 1975, as well as MJ's solo hits and a couple of Jermaine's.  "Corner..." is one of my fave forgotten J-5 hits -- few remember it's from the B'way musical Pippin (of which Motown Corp was a major investor).

Casey's '80s chart this week is Apr 21st 1984 -- a treasure trove of some of my worst WOS's: "Sister Christian"... "Leave it"... "Oh Sherrie"...

Sadly, I tuned in too late to hear Shalimar's fab "Dancing in the Sheets", but BJ's "The Longest Time" almost makes up for it, and Weird Al's "Eat it", H&O's "Adult Education" and Tracey Ullman are yet to come. And -- OMG! -- Willie & Julio's "To All the Girls I've Loved Before"! Cheeze for brunch!
