Tonight I finished a blog I've been thinking about for a long time, but recently sparked by what I saw as the greed and selfishness of those who stand in the way of the government trying to help people who are losing their homes.  I would be interested to hear your thoughts.

Beautiful stuff, Geoff... and to augment your Phil Ochs post in "Secret Stash", here's the Joan Baez version, which I've always loved:

Hey Geoff, saw this and immediately thought of you:
http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?f=/c/a/2009/03/30/BAK616O8D8.DTL&tsp=1

What's your take? (I trust you weren't the unnamed SF school district educator?)
Let's get right to it.

um, what's the average age of an SF teacher/administrator? if they're all boomers, that's one thing, but asking a 30-year-old "remember how you felt the first time you heard Hendrix?" might result in a blank stare.

Well, I'm out of the district now, making less money for less politics.  I love Hendrix and all, but it does seem a tad silly.  This is not new; I heard about this some time ago.  Yeah, I wonder how many teachers really 'get' Hendrix!

I had to jump in on the "Obama's first 100 days" report card bandwagon, just before the stroke of midnight:

"Right on!" to pretty much everything you said. It is thrilling to have a smart guy in the White House, even when I disagree with him.

more boring praise for Obama, sorry dudes.

Today, Obama gave a commencement speech at Notre Dame, and I found some of his speech quite inspiring:

A friend of mine asked that I report on my trip to the Exploratorium in my blog, so, I did!:

Fine stuff, Geoff. Religion is the enemy of science (I'd love for you to take a trip to that "Creationism Museum" or whatever it's called, and write about it).  It is very very scary what these wing-nuts believe (and don't believe). I'm sure you saw the story this week about the bill in Congress (with 20 co-sponsors!) to outlaw "human-animal hybrids" as if that were a pressing issue in this country, or as if the Island of Dr Moreau actually exists. Sheesh.

I put in my two cents worth on the blogpage, and I note that Rod already had.
