The Peak, 01/03/08: Was it 1977?

I've never heard Randy Newman's "Baltimore," only Nina Simone's cover.  And some Mink DeVille and Dean Friedman for Mike!

Randy Newman    Baltimore
Fleetwood Mac    You Make Loving Fun
Mink DeVille    Cadillac Walk
Elvis Costello    Alison
Dean Friedman    Ariel
Eric Clapton    Wonderful Tonight
Garland Jeffreys    Cool Down Boy
Blue Oyster Cult    Goin' Through the Motions
Steely Dan    Deacon Blues
Heartbreakers    Born to Lose
“The choir of children sing their song.  They've practiced all year long.  Ding dong.  Ding dong.  Ding dong.”

OMFG what a fine set --not only the DeVille and Friedman (an only-in-NY turntable-hit if ever there was one) but Garland Jeffreys and BOC too... and yes, that's '77 all right. Worth catching on the replay.

TANC: CG played Friedman's UK #1, "Lucky Stars" (a rather annoying record, IMHO) yesterday during the retro-countdown show; it was 'bubbling under" the Top 20 that week.
