I guess every band reforms sooner or later (except maybe the Ramones). Rod says he and Woody are game, but Mac and Kenney aren't mentioned by name.

Still, I'd pay a few quid to see 'em.

it does mention "all the original members" though.  What a surprise that they ignore Jones, b/c his stint w the who was fairly significant and you would think they could time to mention THAT.

Didn't the lead singer die?  He's now a man in a box, eh?

Glad to see they're giving it a go. I'd guess Rod and Woody would be the two who would have to be convinced to do it, being as they're the most successful of the surviving members. Mac and Kenney haven't starved, but they're not nearly as active as the other two. Wonder if it'll be the non-stop rolling party it was when they were in their heyday?

Had to snicker at that article referring to them as "'70s supergroup." They were great, but hardly viewed as a supergroup back then. They toured endlessly, mainly played small to medium size halls here in the states, and struggled in the shadow of the Stones. Their stock rose when Rod came to the States and his solo career took off, and Woody was cherry-picked by the Stones to take Mick Taylor's guitar chair. Of course, that was the death knell of the band, too.

Btw, Ian McLagan's book All the Rage is a great read.
Let's get right to it.

KRMIA
« Reply #699 on: November 20, 2008, 12:23:13 AM »
I just heard about this local (Portland) band called KMRIA. Fans of James Joyce will recognize that acronym from Ulysses, in which it is said to stand for "kiss my royal Irish arse." Anyway, the band is made up of a couple of Decemberists, Scott McCaughey of Minus 5, a couple of Eels, and several other local musicians, and all they play is Pogues songs. And they only play around St. Paddy's Day and Christmas. So you can imagine what the shows are probably like. Lovely, loud, sloppy, drunken debauch. I think I gotta go see 'em, at least once.

I heard Ian on some radio show (Fresh Air?) and he recounted how the Grateful Dead approached him to play keyboards for the band (maybe Keith Godchaux has just left?).  Ian knew it would be an easy gig, guaranteed work, good money, but he said no b/c he couldn't deal w the tedious music!   :o

Great night. Band only playing these two shows in N. Cal and on to 2 in So Cal. Great energy, great showmanship, great crowd. A few new Black Ice tracks and classics a plenty. Angus and Brian really look they have a blast performing.

The Answer, http://www.theanswer.ie/home.html opened. Good band. Have had their disc on my wish list for a year and never got around to getting it so this was a treat.

Parking at Arena $25! wtf!? Big bucks being made there.

Lead guitarist Angus Young, in particular, is built kind of like Gollum from "The Lord of the Rings" - and we mean that in a good way.
