Quick review of Lenny Kravitz, VD, at the Fox in Oakland:

Very enjoyable show.  His band was excellent, complete with horn section, and he did his thing nicely.  Some bits were a little too slow and ethereal for my tastes, but when he rocked, he rocked enthusiastically.  I give it a solid and totally subjective B.

Is anyone else going to see Bon Iver on April 19?

ah yes, thanks for the reminder!

Glorious county fair concerts are on the distant horizon...  Will we get to hear Loverboy?  Will RickSpringfield make more than one appearance?  Will BÖC grace us with their awesomeness and heaviosity?  The possibilities are endless!

The first annual one probably was, but since the 20th is a Friday this year, the theaters probably don't want to sacrifice the screens on one of their bigger nights of the week.
Let's get right to it.

Attention J-Rock fans

Japan Nite at the Independent tonight!

Five Japanese bands for fifteen bucks. ZOMG!

http://www.theindependentsf.com/event/94975/

I went last year and it was a gas, though the Fukushima tragedy was only beginning to unfold at that point.  The bands stopped at SXSW before making their way to California. Don't miss it!

See you tonight... Sayonara!

Thanks for the tip.  I may drop that line myself.

I better hurry up and finish Murakami's 1Q84 before tonight.   Only 1000 pages to go!
