Anyone able to access the KPOO stream? It seems dead here.
Let's get right to it.

Here too - I'm gettin' nada. And I'm NOT savoring the tranquility!  I was looking forward to an afternoon of Judge...

Oddly, KPIG's player isn't working either; for a sec I thought today was "A Day Without Internet Radio" but that was June 26th.  I'm 'CDX-ing for the time being.

WLNG just played the early-'60s novelty "Pepino the Italian Mouse" -- I'd never noticed (or had long forgotten) that the singer calls Pepino a "moulignon" -- for those not up on their Italian, "moulignon" means "eggplant", but is more commonly known as an anti-black racial slur in the eye-talian community!  Guess that was OK on the radio in 1960.

I think it's wunda-fuhl-a-now that WLNG just played Friend and Lover's "Reach Out in the Darkness".  Don't be afraid to love!

Looks like KPOO's stream is working again -- "Yo' husband is cheatin' on us", Denise Lasalle? Ruth Brown?

BTW, if anyone wants to hear the big switchover in NYC from "Jack" to the return of Oldies on CBS-FM, this appears to be the link:

http://cbsplayer.streamtheworld.com/?CALLSIGN=WCBSFM

It happens tomorrow (Thurs) 7/12/07 at 10:01am Pacific (that's 1:01 Eastern, har har).  Apparently the first song will be "Do it Again" by the Beach Boys, followed by 48 hours of Summer Songs.  No word on what the last song on "Jack" will be. "Good Riddance"?  "Hit the Road, Jack"?

Gaz, of course, can listen over-the-air -- I'll tune in immediately after Ginger's set, hopefully we can exchange info then to make sure we're both hearing the same feed.

About 45 minutes southeast o' Thibideaux Lou'siana! KPIG plays "Amos Moses", followed by OMD, "If You wanna Get to Heaven".

They're doing a "test run" with their DJs -- Bill Lee (once of KMEL) is on at the moment, using the nom-de-radio "Junior Bunsen, the Bunsen Burner" LOL!  It's old-school heaven!

Well, so far this CBS-FM test run is pretty fab: first song I heard was "Wake Me Up Before You Go-Go", after which Bill Lee said "wow... remember when we actually believed he was STRAIGHT?"  ROTFL!

And now Miss Joan Baez is back with her wife in Tennessee.

Frankie Valli swears to god, and then after "Just My Imagination", Lee refers -- correctly! -- to the TEMPTING Temptations. (Somebody send a tape of this to Dave, please.)  Followed by a vintage Tide commercial circa late '50s/early '60s.

And now in honor of the B'way premiere of Xanadu, it's "Magic" ONJ!

Now HERE'S a flashback: Capt & Tenille, "You Never Done It Like That" -- I cannot remember the last time I heard this.

Holy crap! here's Aretha's "Share Your Love", one of my fave little-heard Ree-Ree hits.  If the on-air version of CBS-FM is half as good as this "test" version, Gaz (and all of the NY Metro) is in for a treat.

Head over to

immediately -- the run-up to the format switch is like the greatest Morey montage ever.  Wonderful stuff.
