So it's settled, I'm taking our beloved Alicat out to lunch at her favorite sushi spot, so send all your positive vibes over to Ralston Ave at noon & we can cheer her up!

VHM I. Ron Butterfly -- we heard this in our last '69 excursion, iirc.

Betcha Dave's gives us a sibilant "S" when he says "SSSoul Experience".

Now Joni's got me wishing I were still in Chelsea.

Joni at her most twee.  Not one of my faves, I confess.

No you don't.  It rained like a mother the last two nights, and may well again today.

au contraire, I have to give this a BOS as it was probably the only song in the set I was actually listening to when I was 6.  I later discovered that my folks had the Iron Butterfly LP, but I have no memory of hearing it as a child.

ETA: I guess it's not the only one, we certainly listened to all the S&G albums, including this one.  An even bigger BOS as this song helped me survive the most oppressive parts of my adolescence.

Second time this week for "The Boxer."  And I'm not complaining one bit.

Have we (the group we) ever discussed our parents' listening habits?  My mom was an Eagles/Ronstadt/FMac devotee in the late '70s while I was gravitating to the Beatles and Barry Manilow.  I later discovered that she'd seen Dylan while he was still Zimmerman (I've never fact-checked this claim) and that she'd danced a few times with Bobby Vinton back in the 'Burgh well before he hit it big.

ETA: Her favorite post-'70s band, rather surprisingly, is UB40.

I could dignify that with a dissertation ("twee"???) but I'm too busy.

Is that Taxi Driver?  Had you not ID'd it as a film quote, I'd have thought it was a line from Son of Sam's missive.  See, the time I don't make for movies, I DO make for serial killers.  Or something like that.
