Anyway, BOS to KBC just on principle.  Where else could one ever hope to hear this?

agreed; I've only ever heard this here (a Narada, for me anyway). Was this supposed to make up for "We Built This City"?

BTW, I won't deny that "America" is severly flawed: like most Kantner songs post-hemmorhage, it bounces haphazardly from one political trope to another.  All the sadder, then, that there are so few political troubadours in rock & soul today.  When's the last time a politically conscious song went Top Ten?

More or less.  Kantner left because the others (Thomas and Sears, especially) wanted to continue moving in the pop-singles direction; the KBC Band album essentially consisted of the stuff Paul had been writing that couldn't make it onto a Jefferson Starship album.  Perfect timing for Marty, who was too lazy a writer to complete another solo album on his own.

VHM Bangles. The closest we'll get to cheezy pop in this set, unfortunately.

Most Incorrect Prediction of Set, sez Boys Don't Cry.

2nd BOS contender: T.Heads, one of the great songs from a movie I didn't care for.

what movie was that?

True Stories.

I enjoyed True Stories.  It had an interesting visual style, some of the stories were engaging, and the music was fine.  Of course, it was wildly uneven, and didn't add up to the sum of it's parts.  I was a big Heads fan then, and David was cool wandering through the movie in all his geeky glory.  I was also a big fan of John Goodman, and really love the version of "People Like Us" he does in the film.

3/3/05 - Thursday!  AWESOME set!  1986!!!
Stevie Nicks - I Can't Wait
Talk Talk - Life's What You Make it
XTC - Dear God (BEST OF SET!!)
Talking Heads - Love For Sale
Run DMC - Walk This Way
Bangles - Walk Like an Egyptian
KBC Band - America
Boys Don't Cry - I Wanna Be a Cowboy
Sting - Shadows in the Rain
The Call - Everywhere I Go

So, you call Stevie "The Goat?"

I thought KBC's "America" was awesome, but that's just me.  I was somewhat ivolved with the band at the time, and was at a rehearsal the day after a Miss America pageant, when the host (Gary Collins?) sang some short little ditty "Something's happening in America..." and so on.  Paul was talking lawsuits, but I imagine it was just talk.  But the juxtaposition was pretty bizarre.
Don't stand in the way of LOVE!
