Here 'tis: the Hudson Brothers Beatles homage, So You Are a Star.

to be followed by "Star" by Stealer's Wheel?  That'd be sweet.

Or the Rolling Stones' "Star".  Heh.

OMFGWTFLOL!!! "So You Are a Star", the Hudson Brothers (Kate's dad), a wonderful lost nugget. BOS and proxy of Gaz.  I'm in awe.

Hudson Brothers, wow.  I remember watching the Hudson Brothers show.  Didn't last long.  Pretty credible Paul McCartney impression.

indeed, and I don't remember realizing that at the time -- this was a Top 40 hit and I heard it repeatedly on Casey Kasem's Countdown.  But it's up there with Emmit Rhodes and others of that ilk.

Dickie Goodman!!!  Wow, this is giving Monday's '68 excursion a run for Set Of The Week honors.  NRBQ, "Get That Gasoline", VHM.

absolutely, and now here's the cheese platter.

But only brief cheese (there's a condition you don't wanna have), followed tastily by NRBQ.

Jerry Reed's "Lord, Mister Ford" would go nicely after "Get That Gasoline", but 2 bustouts in one set would be too much to ask for.

Is there more than one version of this NRBQ song, BTW? I remember a much faster take on it for some reason.

but you misread my meaning when I met you - always liked that line for some reason.

Y'know, I'm not sure, but I vaguely recall hearing a more upbeat take on it, too. I'll ask around, get back to you on that.

This was their only chart hit, btw, until "Little Bit of Bad" came out in '94. Hit #70 on the pop singles chart.
Let's get right to it.

well neither "Another Park, Another Sunday", nor "Overnight Sensation" are cheese, but they certainly are tasty, especially back-to-back like this.

Doobies trivia, what was the name of the band that vocalist Tom Johnston and drummer John Hartman started in the late 60's? (if you're not slicing it too fine you could say this was the band's original name).

Bueller?  Anybody?

They called themselves Pud.

it really is one of his loveliest ballads. What a streak he was on at the time.  I remember buying this LP the week it came out.
