"Help Me Girl", an Animals tune I don't think I've ever heard, tho' it was a #29 charter in '66. Very pop, almost Petula Clark-ish.

Chilliwack (Canadian, I think) doing "Don't Stop", a very good H&O imitation.

could there  be some regionalism at work?  All the Animals hits were pretty big out here, this one included.

Indeed. Those were the days when regionalism was the rule rather than the exception.

Oy -- Boney M's dreadful "Ma Baker", the epitome of what is referred to in Turn the Beat Around: the Secret History of Disco as "english-as-a-second-language Eurodisco trash". And I guess no one had the heart to tell them it was Ma BARKER, not Baker.  Yikes.

"so you go to the village
in your tie-dyed jeans
and you stare at the junkies
and the closet queens
it's like some pornographic magazine
and you smile"

CDX plays Mr Joel's masterful "Captain Jack" -- I've never heard this on SF radio, but it was a NYC staple, since "Captain Jack" is a specifically Noo Yawk reference (Captain Jack was a local kiddie show host in the '60s).

I never knew that - I thought it was a reference to Jack Daniel's, as in, you're gonna get shitfaced tonight.  Nice description of Christopher Street either way.

(But I also liked the Kevorkian parody: "Captain Jack will help ya die tonight")
“The choir of children sing their song.  They've practiced all year long.  Ding dong.  Ding dong.  Ding dong.”
