Not only did Indy finally lose, but once again I can't even count on the Niners to lose.  And amazingly, at 5-5, they're in 2nd place in the NFC West!

Quote from: "Gazoo"
We've got a three-way tie for first place at 88, and the whole club is fairly closely knotted.  (Mark, I know you missed the deadline one week; do you have a woulda-been total for yourself?)

PS: The overall leaders have 100.  And Peter Finch, at 94, can still win it all.

as noted, I had 9 in week 1, which put me two pts off the pace heading into today.  If I scanned the results correctly, I just passed Gaz & Mike and am now tied with Rod pending tomorrow, in which he picked the G-men & I picked the Jags.

GO JAGS!

Pursuant to my pick of Indy losing, that was entirely based on the analysis over at FootballOutsiders.com*.  Generally I loathe the Cowboys, so this is probably the happiest I have ever been in my life to see them win.  Seriously.

*to wit - A) Indy has been horrible against the run all year & in particular against runners who fit Marion Barber's mold & B) Peyton over his career, based on passer rating, has fared about 20% worse against 3-4 defenses (of which the 'Boys are a pretty good example this year).

Well thanks to the Jaguars, I end up with 6; still my worst week of the season on a percentage basis.

I put my MIA pick in here, but it was 8:50 when I logged in & the system wouldn't let me make that pick.  So if Miami actually wins I'll be short another point in the official rankings.

John Fogerty and the NFL
« Reply #208 on: November 23, 2006, 11:24:40 AM »
for some reason, it struck me as odd that John Fogerty would sing "Fortunate Son" at an NFL event, which seems to be the essence of the Silver Spoon Set.  I wonder if he did this spontaneously, or if it was always planned.  Yeah, I read too much into things.

I'm amazed they let him sing it; his most political, not to mention still-relevant, song.
