But another can-we-please-retire-this-Katrina plea for Steam.

I guess it can't be a Katrina if it's a real old classic, eh?

Savoy Brown, BOS3.  Another forgotten FM staple of the era.

When my buddy from Seattle was here last weekend I turned him on to 10@10 & we listened to an Urth tape of a '69 set that concluded with this.  It also had the Pharm-Chem report, which we should request Dave to play again one of these days.

Sounds like Janis Joplin singing with ZZ Top.

With Jeff Beck, no? "Plynth", another song that may not have been a Katrina when this set premiered, but has become one.

Nope, pre-Faces. Jeff Beck Group--is this Plynth?

Great set so far, but you'll hear few comments from me today. Work is sucking mightily....
Let's get right to it.

If it's a Katrina, why are so many of us having trouble indentifying it?

And what is "Plynth" supposed to mean?  It's not a word, and it's not in the lyrics.

Speaking of Katrinas, "Build Me Up Buttercup" must qualify by now, eh?

i'm not listening, but if it's "plynth," it's definitely a katrina. we had this same conversation the last time the song was played...maybe a month ago? pretty funny. :)

there's the small faces song, "around the plynth," which is an unplugged version of "plynth or water down the drain (beck and stewart)," so to speak. i'm not sure which version came first, but i'd put money on it being the small faces version.

we've had this discussion before, and I'll bet that per the db it's not an "official" Katrina -- but there was a period a few years back when Dave played it in literally every other '69 set. It was a Narada to me actually, I don't remember it getting any NYC aitplay -- but it sure became a Katrina for me.
