JJ's KPOO plays the Dionne Warwick version of "Wishin' & Hopin'". Followed by Jerry Butler, "Make it Easy on Yourself" -- a Bacharach twin-spin!

I've only ever heard the Walker Bros. version of MIEOY -- does either Butler's or Warwick's rendition aspire to such high drama?  Or completely different arrangement?

Butler's arrangement is similar and some would say his version is the definitive one (it came first, iirc).

But Dusty's is the W&H for the ages -- I didn't realize Dionne did it first (as a B-side).

CG plays Elvis, "If I Can Dream", his true "comeback" hit from late '68.

Just switched over to KHUM (they actually pronounce it Kay-Hum) and first thing I hear is James Brown, "Hot Pants"!

followed by a band called Exit Clove (?) doing a cover of T.Heads "This Must Be the Place".

I've just really enjoyed KHUM.  They played an equest for me very quickly yesterday, and it's so laid back and unprofessional, it's very relaxing.  Yah mon, I feel like I'm in a redwood grove, just chillin'

Wilco/Billy Bragg, "California Stars". How this song managed to go mostly ignored by KFOG, I'll never know. I'm quite impressed by KHUM so far.

"it's not a trip at all..."

But it IS the Turtles' "You Showed Me" on WLNG.

Is that the line?  I've always heard it as "it's not a trick at all" (as in, you showed me a magic trick).  But admittedly "trip" is more sensible in the song's placement as a follow-up to their previous singles, "She's My Girl" and "Sound Asleep."

You showed me how to say
        Exactly what you say
        In that very special way
        Oh, oh, oh, it's true
        You fell for me too

        And when I tried  it
        I could see you fall
        And I decided
It's not a trip at all

A play on words, perhaps, as in "have a nice trip ... see you next fall"?
