A soulful cover of "First Cut is the Deepest" by a woman named PP Arnold -- new to me, but check out her Wiki entry. Quite interesting:

Indeed.  And you really MUST seek out Norma Fraser's competing reggae version, dating to '67 or '68.  My friend Jagger put it on a mix for me at Christmastime and I fell in love with it.  Vocally she's similar to Arnold, but the arrangement is different.

as I prepare to leave CG for KRSH's Soul Patrol, Greg plays the Pasadenas, "Tribute", a wonderful, lost, late-'80s single I've praised many times here.

Sounds like KRSH SP has one (or more) of the Persuasions live in-studio.

it's one (ex-)Persuasion, and they're playing not-yet-released cuts from a forthcoming CD. Here's his take on "Islands in the Stream"! Nice.

CG has declared this coming Wed to be "King & Queen Day". Why? 'cause it's the King's (Elvis) death day and the Queen's (Madonna) birthday.  They're giving away stuff.

Think we could persuade Dave to do a half Elvis/half Madonna set?

Nah.

This VIP Friday "Beach Music" show is great stuff.  Heard an hilarious song called "Grunts Moans & Groans", about a guy in a motel with his mistress who realizes his wife is next door because he recognizes her, um, boudoir noises. LOL!

OMGWTFLOL! Marilyn McCoo & Billy Davis II, "Your Love", a wonderful forgotten single (a Top 20 hit) and one of the best Marvin & Tammi hommages ever.  Haven't heard this since it was on the charts.
