Surprisingly not sucking after the first two.  "Look What You've Done For Me" is my favorite Al Green song, and I like Al Green.  The horn chords have an edge to 'em, doncha think?

Well, we were batting .750 for a few blissful minutes, then along came Peter. Now it's .600--if we can maintain that average for the rest of the set I will be relieved.

I hear ya.  Couldn't they have tried "Don't Give Up"?  Oh wait, someone would have to suggest it.  Someone who cares about love songs.  OK, I get it.  Phooey!

as long as we're dissing "In Your Eyes", y'all know who really gets the blame for this don't you?

Cameron Crowe, for putting it in Say Anything.

I'm sure I've posted variations of this list before, but for me, the ideal Valentine's Day set at this stage of life would include:

Jefferson Starship, "Miracles"
Terence Trent D'Arby, "Sign Your Name"
Dusty Springfield, "This Girl's in Love With You"
Flaming Ember, "Mind, Body & Soul"
Sade, "The Sweetest Taboo"
Erasure, "Always"
Queen, "You're My Best Friend"
Beatles, "Here, There and Everywhere"
Orpheus, "I Never Knew Love Like This"
The Platters, "With This Ring"

Message to My Girl. Ya can guess who "requested" this, can't you?

By no small coincidence, the wife and I are observing VD day by going to see Tim and Neil Finn tonight at the Palace of Fine Arts. If they play this, I'll let you know.
Let's get right to it.

A fine choice, friend.  Have a lovely evening, you two.

I hope you're being sarcastic.

See that's my point.  This is actually a great song with a great guest vocalist & some interesting arrnagement.  It's Cameron Crowe's fault that it became a massive Valentine's Day/Wedding Day song, when he had John Cusack standing outside of Ione Skye's house in the rain with his boom box help up over his head in Say Anything.

Gaz, very prescient call on the Beatles (Yay!).

I never would have put this in the top 10 Love Songs just by the Beatles.  Shows that you're smarter than I on this stuff.

What would you include instead?

Actually I meant that this was Dave's request. But had I thought of it I might have. Thanks for the good wishes--I'm looking forward to the show. (And the evening with the wife!)

Errr, yes, I was.  Youssou is fine, and so is this song, really.  It's just been played to death.  Anyway, we gonna have lunch this week?  Tomorrow?  Who's up for it?

and "Here" it is...

The EW "50 greatest love songs" only includes one Beatles song, BTW
