Mike requested tales of London over in today's 10@10 thread, but I thought I'd put it here for consistency's sake.
Just time for one right now tho. Last Thursday I took one of those London walking tours, this one of various Beatles sites throughout Soho--places like the former Apple headquarters on Savile Row, the London Palladium, McCartney's current London offices, the street toilet that was used in a Peter Cook/Dudley Moore TV sketch that featured John Lennon, stuff like that. The tour ends with a short tube ride out to St. John's Wood to see the exterior of Abbey Road. Only thing was, when we arrived there, there was a camera crew, a few photographers, and five beings that looked like a cross between GWAR and some refugees from a computer gamer's wildest dream. It was the band
Lordi, fresh from their victory in the Eurovision Song Contest. They did some interviews in front of the studio, then took the obligatory walk across the zebra crossing with a photog on a stepladder blocking traffic. I got several shots of them from the reverse angle--will post them someplace and share the link with y'all. It was quite a hoot seeing these comic-book-characters come to life strolling the sidewalks of an otherwise relatively quiet London neighborhood.
