Yay!  misssed song #1 I think, but here's Badfinger, Dixie dear.  Wait, this was a hit in '72, but now here's Marvin, "What's Goin On?"  Did the Badfinger LP come out in '71?

Oh, how I love "Baby Blue," though I'll never grasp why they went with a seemingly arbitrary closing line ("Dixie Dear") that doesn't rhyme with the preceding.  Kinda like "Wham Bam Shang-a-Lang," which might have well been "shing-a-ling" to rhyme with "thing."

Paging Dr. Gould: Marvin Gaye is waiting to see you.

OMG! Dylan, "Watching the River Flow" -- one of his best singles , and one of THE best ever to peak at #41.  Play that piano, Leon!

Oh, jeez, Melanie . . .  It was cute on the first few listens, but today, not so much.  What was the song that preceded it ("everything is going our way")?  It reminded me in an odd way of the Dave Matthews Band.

EVERYTHING'S COMING OUR WAY - SANTANA

DMB should be so lucky as to sound like that

STATESBORO BLUES - ALLMAN BROTHERS BAND
BABY BLUE - BADFINGER
WHAT'S GOING ON - MARVING GAYE
WATCHING THE RIVER FLOW - BOB DYLAN
MAGGIE MAY - ROD STEWART
EVERYTHING'S COMING OUR WAY - SANTANA
BRAND NEW KEY - MELANIE
BERTHA - GRATEFUL DEAD
LAYLA - DEREK AND THE DOMINOES
GAMES - REDEYE

A fine fine set -- several songs Dave's never touched (Dylan, Redeye) more than making up for the three overplayed "classics" (Marvin, Rod, D&theDs).  Worth catching on the replay.

I really could go the next 5 years without hearing "Layla" and not miss it.

I have not heard this Redeye song "Games" since '71. A CSNY-meets-Loggins & Messina sound.

I think you're safe on the Redeye, but I seem to recall Dave playing Watching the River Flow once several years back (circa 2001-02 or thereabouts) and of course we BOS'd the heck out of it. Mark, have you got setlists going back that far?
Let's get right to it.
