Cue the Sex Pistols....

ETA: Make that Sid hisself.

Btw, Dave's YIM status warns "there WILL be vinyl." Anyone think we've heard it yet? Or is this it?
Let's get right to it.

More cheeze, please: ONJ. Not my fave of hers, but props to Jon Farrar for consistenly producing her hits in a fabulous way.

BTW, I did see Xanadu at the Castro recently  -- actually, I made it thru an hour of it. Quite jaw-droppingly bad.

Kudos to the Foghead trivia winner for choosing da Ramones over Jerry Garcia as his Bonus.

something with 2 names in the title? like, "(somebody) and (somebody)"? Sorry, Jerry's solo ouevre is not my strong point.

In Kimberly's room... she'll punch you out!

BOS Brooce, bonding with Patti Smith -- at least it always seemed to me that this was very Patti-influenced.

Gerry Diefenbach, one of the pianist entertainers at the Duplex, used to preface "Because the Night" by saying, "This song was written by my two favorite lesbian icons: Bruce Springsteen and Patti Smith."

Sammy's "Emotion" would have gotten my BOS, I suppose, though it really is impossible for me to tell where her voice ends and the Gibbs' begin.  I'm still not certain she actually appears on the record.
“The choir of children sing their song.  They've practiced all year long.  Ding dong.  Ding dong.  Ding dong.”

Wow. I guess I didn't miss it, since it didn't get played, and I'm not sure I've ever heard it on the radio.  Some of Hunter's most intense lines:

The crowd pressed round
Ruby stood as though alone
Reuben's song took on a different tone
and he played it just for her

The song he played was the Carnival Parade
Each note cut a thread of Cerise's fate
It cut through like a blade

Reuben was playing the painted mandolin
When Ruby froze and turned to stone
for the strings played all alone
Don't stand in the way of LOVE!

Though I'm largely indifferent to the Dead, Robert Hunter's lyrics often have an amazing visceral effect on me.  He manages to pack the most profound sadness into the most economic language when he's on.  This one, I've never heard, but it reminds me of "Harp Tree Lament."

I take that back: I always forget that the first 45 seconds of "Candy's Room" make me want to have godlike sex with Bruce that. very. moment.
