BOS3 (or maybe 4)--Ringo and the boyz (yay!), Octopus's Garden!

One of the Beatles' great kids songs!!

I'm amazed that Capitol, in all it's reissue mania, never put together a Beatles-for-kids package.

What else would you include?  My kids love "Yellow Subamrine" & "Help", for instance.

Hey Bulldog
Everybody's Got Something to Hide 'cept for Me and my Monkey
Good Day Sunshine
She Loves You
Let's get right to it.

"Oblidee Oblida", maybe?

"Piggies"? (the kids may not 'get' the lyrics until they're older- but it's a fun song)

"Happiness Is a Warm G..." No, wait...

"Birthday"?

Oh-Bla-Di -- talk about lyrics the kids won't "get" til they're older! "Desmond stays at home and does his pretty face"?

ETA: btw, am I the only one who likes to see the words 'Heavy Duty' over Scarlett's bosom?

I pretty much like seeing anything over Scarlett's bosom. Unless it obstructs my view of said bosom.

Mark, if you EVER change your avatar, there will be much sadness among the villagers around here.

Scarlett's new flick opens today: A Good Woman, an updated version of Oscar Wilde's Lady Windemere's Fan. Scarlett plays the Lady W character, I think. Helen Hunt's in it too.

sticking around for the Bonus.  this new Aqualung tune ("Left Behind") is a pretty dead-on U2 imitation, no?

I just got an email from a contact named Fred Lee.  His company email convention is first initial + last name, so his email address is 'flee'

Thought that was funny.

no, that was their previous single

Coldplay are "the new U2", anyway, aren't they?  At least Bono would never name his kid Apple...

Annalisa's question: "a famous political couple named their daughter after one of the songs in today's set. Name the couple."

I shudder to think what the dimbulb Fogheads are gonna come up with as an answer...

OMG! first caller got it right -- and she picked Taj Mahal as the bonus! "Take a Giant Step". I can't remember the last time I heard this on the radio.

We go to overtime & once again Annalisa comes up with the overall BOS:  Taj Mahal, "Take a Giant Step"

BOS2 RB Greaves, "Take a Letter Maria", a GREAT f--ing single. Why did this man not have a career?

Can't answer that, but did you ever notice that the opening guitar strums are perfectly copied by Joni Mitchell on "Help Me"?
“The choir of children sing their song.  They've practiced all year long.  Ding dong.  Ding dong.  Ding dong.”

As you may know, Ronald Bertram Aloysius Greaves was a nephew of Sam Cooke (and half Seminole Indian to boot).  And he was hailed at the time as "the next Sam Cooke" by many critics including Mr Xgau. One other hit (a version of "Always Something There to Remind Me") and then oblivion.

I took some brown acid in 1984 and you know what? It WAS terrible! Some good advice never goes outta style, y'know?

I wonder if anyone ever tried to find the person/people who brought the brown acid, and ask them what they thought of their place in history.
