Tuned in just in time for what sounds like Fleetwood Mac.

1975's such a rich year for tunes, I don't even know what I want to hope for while I have this tenuous internet connection.  "Dr. Wu" is tasty 'nuff for starters.  Maybe some "Magic" or "Trampled Underfoot" or "Supernatural Thing"?  (I know, the latter won't happen, ah well.)

Actually, except for Dark Side..., which is obviously a cultural touchstone to people of a certain age, I'd wager most of their stuff doesn't really have an emotional impact on most people.  And once Alan Parsons proved you could sell millions by doing Pink Floyd Lite... it was over.

A serious lyric-analysis question:

"Philadelphia Freedom took me knee-high to a man / Gave me peace of mind my daddy never had."  Am I hearing this line correctly, or mondegreening it?  I read the line as: Elton finds freedom/liberte in going down on a guy, and suspects that his daddy silently wanted to do the same but never did.  A bizarre sentiment for a #1 hit, ne?

Me either... and I'm gay!  I always figured "knee-high to a man" was a play on "knee-high to a grasshopper" (or whatever the expression is). Something about growing up or reaching maturity.

The idea of Elton on his knees is a visual I'd rather not conjure up this early in the morning.
