This is just too weird.  Before last night, I had never heard of Lupe Velez.  But in The Adventures of Kavelier and Clay which I am currently reading, they play a game called "Lupe Velez."  (not much of a game)  At any rate, new to me.  Got to look it up on the internet...

Very interesting review in Salon about two books dealing with gay heartthrobs in Hollywood's heyday.  You gotta watch a brief ad if you're not a Salon subscriber, but it's for the movie ShopGirl, which looks pretty good anyway.
