Otis!  BOS3 "Cigarettes & Coffee"
My man!

Damn, there was a lot of good stuff in 66. I've really enjoyed every one of these tunes.

Secret Agent --> "Scratch My Back". When this is the closest to an FF, you know it's a good set.

Really? I haven't heard of this group or song before!

What was that clip? The guy sounds familiar, but I didn't hear enough to figure it out.

I'll give Zappa and the Mothers a BOS for "Hungry Freaks Daddy". I think I've heard this, maybe, once in my life.

12/11/15 - Friday!  It's 1966!

1. The Monkees - (I'm Not Your) Steppin' Stone
2. Beatles - She Said She Said
(News:  Radio Caroline Newsbeat:  Soviet lunar mission, U.S. auto makers required to add emission controls)
3. The Kinks - Dedicated Follower of Fashion
(Truman Capote on his masked ball)
4. Sérgio Mendes and Brazil '66 - Mas Que Nada
    (TV:  Batman)
5. Beach Boys - That's Not Me
6. Otis Redding - Cigarettes and Coffee
(TV:  Danger Man (Patrick McGoohan) as a DJ in "Not So Jolly Roger")
7. Slim Harpo - Baby Scratch My Back
(TV:  Bewitched:  choosing a baby name)
8. Rolling Stones - Mother's Little Helper
(News:  1966 California Gubernatorial candidate Ronald Reagan addresses his issues with a UC Berkeley dance "so contrary to our standards of human behavior")
9. Frank Zappa - Hungry Freaks, Daddy
    (TV:  Captain America)
10.Captain Beefheart - Diddy Wah Diddy

Truman Capote at a masked dance -->  Sergio Mendes "Mashkenadza" (or however it's spelled).  uber-BOS.
Portuguese is a very cool-sounding language.

You might also enjoy 4Hero featuring Patricia Marx - Unique.

Got up at 6:30 today and (of course) the '66 set was first in the rotay and AL was just finishing the backannounce. It was followed by K4K and Lennon and I don't know whether '89 preceded '95 or vice-versa.

The '66 set was really a delight and the exact opposite of those "Sixties for Dummies" sets of the DC era. He'd've insisted on

"I'm a Believer"
"Paperback Writer"
"Sunny Afternoon"
Herb Alpert instead of Sergio Mendes
"Good Vibrations"
something else by Otis

'89 then '95.  The 1966 set was very good -- but not good enough to get up before 6 am to hear it again.   :D
