and we have a new contender for "most obvious LNs requested for a single year" -- someone asked for

Give me one reason - Tracy Chapman
Wonder - Natalie Merchant
You learn - Alanis Morissette
1979 - The smashing pumpkins
Counting blue cars - Dishwalla
Key West Intermezzo - JCM
So much to say - DMB

well, we didn't get any of these, thank heaven, but Cake/Petty/PRGs was nearly as annoying.

This song is NOT 1996, Renee.

http://wweb.uta.edu/faculty/gghunt/charts/m20.html

oopsies. Did someone request it last nite?

wikipedia says the album is from 1996

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yourself_or_Someone_Like_You

It is, but the single wasn’t released until late 1998. When Renee and the “10@10 committee” used to do 10@10 they were sticklers about playing songs in the album release year, even if the single didn’t impact until the following year (or later). But AL has been better about playing songs in the year most people heard them. Which is why I figured she grabbed this one (and most of the other songs in this set) from previous Renee sets.

I like "1979"....  I would have accepted that. :)   But I bailed as soon as I heard the Cake song start.  Oh wells...
