For comparison, here's The Peak's Top 107 of 2014:

http://1071thepeak.com/promotions/generic/peaktop107.php

The fact that AL did a countdown of the Top Ten Foghead faves (based on... what? they didn't ask us to vote this year) means, I guess that they won't be doing one of those Foghead Favorites weekends. Too busy working on A-to-Z I guess. ;)

I checked out this list and I went "I dunno.. I just...  Who are these people?"

Stop living in the past, man. True Fogheads know there's great music to be heard in every era  :D

I have no argument with that.  It was more a comment on how I'm out of the loop.

Ok, and I admit: I don't really care to get in that loop sometimes.  :) :)

I don't know if my  :D emoticon made the point strongly enough, so I'll just go ahead and say that I was not being serious.

no prob.   I think I got your "i'm not being serious" message (mostly, anyway).

apropos of nothing: I heard some song by Fall Out Boy the other day called Centuries and it made me want to drive a pickaxe into my skull.  They're not on that KFOG fave list, but I wonder if they've ever graced that airwaves at 104.5

Probably not KFOG, possibly Live 105, more likely Nickelodeon or Disney Channel

    2.  Kongos- Come With Me Now
    1.  Vance Joy- Riptide

We were out of town and not even aware they were even doing one...and boy am I glad I missed it. Half of these (9, 8, 5, 4, 1) are on my worst-of-2014 list, one (2) is close enough, and one (10) is contender for most boring song in the history of the universe.

The fact that AL did a countdown of the Top Ten Foghead faves (based on... what? they didn't ask us to vote this year) means, I guess that they won't be doing one of those Foghead Favorites weekends. Too busy working on A-to-Z I guess. ;)

Exactly...it would be nice to know exactly what this list was based on. Last years, I could see how that lineup could match Fogheads’ general preference...this one, not so much although I could be wrong.

Also, we’ve gotten two blah current/recurrent sets in the past week. Wonder if that means anything.

And at number one...

Vance Joy "Riptide"

ETA: Guess I was the only one to suffer through this set?  ;)

No, I listened to it, somewhat distractedly, for over twenty minutes waiting for 10@10 to start
before I realized that I was listening to 10@10.  Shows to go you just how understated the
presentation was.  Anyway, I didn't hear anything I immediately recognized, nor did anything
make any impact on me.  A muddle of meh.

I think your reaction is completely understandable and to a large extent I share it.  For me, part
of its origin stems from the perspective that popular music in more or less its current form is
somewhere around sixty years old.  A lot of what can be done already has been done, and done
better.  Another way to put it is that today's artists in the common popular music genres are
competing against sixty years of history.  So even when I hear some of the new music a lot of
it doesn't catch my attention or pique my interest.
