KPOO is playing the famous Chevy Chase/Richard Pryor "Word Association" bit from SNL. Genius.

wow, TaMara and the Seen, "Everybody Dance", which Dave should exhume for his next '85 set. Beats Cock Robin, fer shurr.

Followed by Marvin Gaye's "Sanctified Lady", which I don't think I've ever heard on the radio.  'course y'all know what the original title was, right?

"Sanctified Kitty," right?

Amen on the Tamara & the Seen.  I have that on a compilation with stuff like "In My House," "The Glamorous Life," and "You Dropped a Bomb on Me" -- fab stuff that Dave seems all but unaware of, or at least unconvinced that there's a market for it on 10@10.

This deejay is killing me with old commercials for blaxploitation flicks and Richard Pryor clips. "when black folks go down to the courthouse lookin' for justice, that's what they see -- just us!"

Tuning in KPOO for the first time (what have I been waiting for?) and today seems to be reggae day, at least in the PM. No fake reggae here, but not sure it's what I'm in the mood for. Looking at their sched, looks like Mondays and Fridays are the best days for soul in the afternoon--Tuesday is all-Coltrane from 1 to 4, and Thursday seems to be talk shows geared to different races and nationalities in the afternoon. Still, can't wait for Friday!
Let's get right to it.

yeah, it's a jumbled sked... Mon & Fri are good, they tend to play more '80s stuff then, but Sat nite 10p-2a is where "JJ on D radio" really shines with his collection of vinyl from the 60s & 70s.  This weekend, among other delights, he played Prince, "Soft & Wet", the J-5's cover of "Forever Came Today" and the Rufus/Chaka Khan version of "Jive Talkin'" which I'd never heard.
