Watching The Last Waltz in HD (Comcast ch.783).
Happy to report that Neil Young's coke nugget has been digitally restored.   :D

Dave Matthews peformed on NBC's "NFL Kickoff" special earlier tonite. Because nothing screams "American FOOTBALL!!" like a balding, paunchy, white South African guy.  ::)

He's the new Phil Collins!

The NFL has run out of classic rockers, I guess: Black Eyed Peas to play the Super Bowl halftime?

TMBG "Birdhouse in Your Soul" just used to great effect on HBO's Bored to Death, which I'm loving even more this year than last.

Mavis Staples & Jeff Tweedy on last nite's Colbert performing the title track of her You Are Not Alone CD, which Tweedy produced.

And the Springsteen docu is on HBO in an hour.

If you were hoping for local heroes to be singing the anthem at the SF Series games... yer outta luck.  John Legend tonite (I like him, but WTF?) Lady Antebellum tomorrow (because, y'know, country is SO big in SF  ::) ). But Texas gets to hear a native when Kelly Clarkson sings on Saturday.  Clearly FOX makes these decisions, not the teams, but sheesh.

Cee-Lo on the Colbert show, doing his notorious hit -- but instead of "fuck you", he's substituting "Fox News". Genius!

Pet Shop Boys performing It's A Sin on The Graham Norton Show.  The interview at the end of the song is hilarious!

Soul Train back on the regular Centric channel schedule, where it belongs (every nite at 8 ) -- David Ruffin lip-synching "Walk Away From Love" at the moment.

This was surreal...

Jimmy Fallon's perfect impersonation of Neil Young singing "Whip My Hair" with Bruce parodying 70's Bruce singing back-up.

I was shocked how much he sounded like NY. If you closed your eyes, you'd guess it was Neil circa '72.
Let's get right to it.

watching it now.  Good fill-in of my memory.  I remember watching the Dick Cavett show back then when they did the "Woman is N*****" song.  I have the NY record too.
Don't stand in the way of LOVE!
