wow, those reviews are overly kind, IMHO. And geoff, I'd forgotten about the CBS connection -- that probably played a part in selecting the Who this year. I'm sure it made the "suits" happy. I think we've seen the last of "geezer rock" at the SB. For one thing, there's nobody left of that stature who hasn't done it yet (except maybe the Police). Next year the game is in Dallas; i predict something countrified. Whether they go for one big name (Kenny Chesney?) or do some sort of Carrie Underwear/Rascal Flatts/Sugarland combo platter remains to be seen. OTOH, there's always Coldplay.  Texas = ZZ Top! Oh gawd -- you may be right! |

Yesh, they are old, but they are one of my favorite punk bands, so it was good to see them! in the NYT review, Jon Pareles writes: And in “Won’t Get Fooled Again,” when Daltrey sang “the hypnotized never lie” to the television audience, he added, “Do ya?”
That "Do Ya?" has always been part of the song. You can hear it on the studio version (although it's subdued) and I know I've heard it on other live versions. |

If you have VH1 Classic, they've been showing a program titled "Soul Train: The Hippest Trip in America". I don't know how old this is but it's getting a long run. I've seen it in the program guide about 3-4 times already. It's on Thursday afternoon at 3 PM and Saturday at 5:30 PM.

They have a string of recognizable, guitar-based hits (i.e., exactly what SB halftime has been about since "Nipplegate").
