SNL Barry Gibb Talk Show to close things out (and AL giggling).

Unlike the Christopher Walken Blue Oyster Cult/Cowbell sketch, this hasn't aged so well, IMHO.... Timberlake/Fallon always seem as if they're trying way too hard.

Although there haven’t been that many 2003 sets to date, this was quite possibly my favorite. Excellent song selection, clips, & production.

Wednesday, August 20...it’s 2003!!!

1. Jason Mraz - The Remedy (I Won’t Worry)
2. Barenaked Ladies - Testing 1, 2, 3
3. Kings of Leon - California Waiting
4. Los Lonely Boys - Hollywood
5. Yeah Yeah Yeahs - Maps
6. Maroon 5 - Sunday Morning
7. The Postal Service - Such Great Heights
8. Hot Hot Heat - Bandages
9. David Bowie - New Killer Star
10. Weird Al Yankovic - Couch Potato

I will second that emotion.

ETA: Have all of the songs so far not been played in previous 2003 sets?  Seems that way to me (without checking)...

Pretty much. I could only find a previous spin for Mraz and two for the Postal Service (one in 2003, the other in Love Songs). 8 bustouts -- while this shouldn’t be hard to do in a year we’ve only been to about 6 or 7 times, other similarly sparse years have made it seem otherwise. Impressive.

I heartily applaud the idea of 8 bustouts in one set, but I'm curious -- where were these songs being heard on '03, if not KFOG? The Mraz was a KFOG song, certainly, and someone mentioned the YeahYeahYeahs were a Live 105 staple, but what about the rest?  Some of these are deep cuts by KFOG artists but didn't get much if any KFOG play.

so true, I watched the Jimmy Fallon show a few weeks back and JT was on (it was probably the very first Fallon show now that I think about it). Too many in jokes (which their fans eat up, of course), too much self-awareness, too much show bizziness. They're both supremely talented, likable, etc., but sometimes they are too much to take.

Kings of Leon were pretty obscure in ‘03, the Los Lonely Boys track is def. a deep cut, and Weird Al is just Weird Al but the others all charted on some format or other.  The AAA station I was listening to at the time (WNCS/Vermont) had the Mraz, BNL, & Bowie on their playlist, The Postal Service & Hot Hot Heat along with Yeah Yeah Yeahs were alternative hits (although the Postal Service song was only played on a couple renegade alt. stations when it was first out--but most others caught on in the next couple of years) and Maroon 5 was hot on CHR & Hot AC (as was Mraz) although as CapnJack said -- “Sunday Morning" should have been in an ’04 set as that one wasn’t on radio until the end of ’04, or even the beginning of ’05.
