"Love Is All Around" has been completely ruined for me by Billy Mack

JINX, I guess...  I saw the movie but I've never heard the "Xmas is all Around" song on the radio.  Bill Nighy rules.

and heeeeeeeere's Ted!  If he could take back the contributions he made to the decade he now despises, would he?

He maintains that he had no clue about the drug references/enticements in this song.  Says the other guys mostly wrote the words & he figured it was more about Transcendental Meditation or some such.

Believe that if you will.

And Grace Slick has also been quoted saying that "White Rabbit" isn't about drugs. LOL!

I never heard it on the radio either, but I've seen the movie twice all the way through, plus a few partial viewings.  Which means I have heard the song like a dozen times.

Bill Nighy certainly rules.  He will be Davey Jones in the Pirates of the Caribbean sequel, chasing after Cap'n Jack Sparrow.  And there's an Underworld sequel as well.

Well, she's not being completely disingenuous: Of course drugs use is the topic matter, but the song's not so much about that per se, she has insisted, as about the about the hypocrisy of adults criticizing youth drug use while celebrating works like Lewis Carroll's Alice tales.  It's a nuance, but I buy it.

Makes me think of first short-term girlfriend, the Brazilian exchange student.

Mmmmm, Brazilian exchange students...

Not my first short-term girlfriend (I WISH!), but definitely the first time I was breathless, sleepless, appetite-less, etc.  In the end all I got was a farewell peck on the cheek.

But when she showed up at a pool party and borrowed a simple one-piece speedo from the hostess, three things happened.  1) All the boys just started slobbering uncontrollably.  2) All the girls got dressed again, not even wanting to be seen in their swimsuits next to her.  and 3) the hostess, a good friend of mine, told me she was going to burn the suit after Alice took it  off.

Dammmn, all the young girls hate Alice!

Meantime, I'm getting dead air.  Dammit!  Wanted to hear a '68 mix while working on my notes for tomorrow.  Off to the Technicolor Web of Sound ...
