the Drive, week of 4/2/12
« on: April 02, 2012, 08:03:26 AM »
Mon 4/2/12: 1970!

a good Drive week ahead (only one '80s set, on Tuesday when I don't listen anyway).

instant BOS to CCR's "Up Around the Bend", one of my 2 or 3 favorites of theirs.

uber-LN: "All Right Now"

BOS2 3DN/Paul Williams "Out in the Country".

Trouble ahead and a troubled behind -- hemorrhoids can be a bitch, Casey Jones.

proxy of shray:

By the time we got to wood shop, we were half-a-million birdhouses strong!

VHM Guess Who, gettin' no sugah, sugah.

BOS3 Santana, "Samba Pa Ti" sounds lovely today.

CCR - Up Around The Bend
Free - All Right Now
Three Dog Night - Out In The Country
Grateful Dead - Casey Jones
Simon & Garfunkel - Cecilia
CSNY - Woodstock
Guess Who - No Sugar Tonight/New Mother Nature
Black Sabbath - Paranoid
Santana - Samba Pa Ti
Van Morrison - Caravan

Tue 4/3/12: 1988

REM - Stand
Mike & The Mechanics - The Living Years
Van Halen - When It's Love
David Lee Roth - Damn Good
U2 - Angel of Harlem
Cinderella - Don't Know What You Got (Till It's Gone)
Robert Plant - Tall Cool One
Steve Winwood - Holding On
Guns n' Roses - Patience
Traveling Wilburys - End of the Line

nice idea playing VH and DLR back-to-back (and Dave's "Damn Good" is a rarity, certainly).  But otherwise... Y&S.

ETA: Bob said "I can't remember the last time a song won Best-in-Show by so many votes -- nearly FOUR TIMES as many votes as any of the other 9 songs". That winner was.... Traveling Wilburys. Just shoot me.

Fri 4/6/12: 1980

eek.  BJ has a fantasy. Keep it to yerself, bub.

in honor of Opening Day: Queen plays the game.  Well, Freddie certainly handled quite a few big bats in his day. BOS1.

The Manfreds do yet another Springsteen cover. Which seemed like desperation at this point. And changing "lick my sores" to "fight my wars" always bothered me.

Steve Perry walks like a lady, or something. Seger does the horizontal bop -- not to be confused with the unskinny bop.

NOOOOO!! WOS REO.

Bono's eyes make a circle; Bruce is like a river that just keeps on flowin'.

The Babys' "Midnight Rendezvous" is a rarity, but that doesn't mean it's good.

JCM ain't even done. But I am.

Billy Joel - Sometimes a Fantasy
Queen - Play the Game
Manfred Mann - For You
Journey - Walks Like a Lady
Bob Seger - The Horizontal Bop
R.E.O. Speedwagon - Take It on the Run
U2 - I Will Follow
Bruce Springsteen - Hungry Heart
Babys - Midnight Rondezvous
John Mellencamp - Ain't Even Done With The Night
