Wow, 2NG plays the Seekers covering "Red Rubber Ball" -- I don't think I've ever heard anyone besides the Cyrkle do this.

I was waiting for that TANC to happen sooner or later.  It was in the cosmos!

Just tuned in to The Kinks' "Victoria".  Nice.   :)

The Boardwalk plays Huey & the News covering an obscure Wilson Pickett tune, "Don't Fight It -- Feel It". In Huey's case there's a lot to, er, feel. Or so I've heard.

swoon, swoon: 2NG plays Tom Jones, "Love Me Tonight". rrrrrrowr!

and now OMFG it's "Je T'Aime", Birkin & Gainsbourg. mais oui!

Good gawd: here's Terry jacks' "If You Go Away", which apparently went Top Ten in the UK. It makes "Seasons in the Sun" sound like LedZep.

only on The Boardwalk: Charles & Eddie's fab "Would I Lie to You?", followed by a surprisingly good cover of "What Does it Take" by... the California Raisins!

Damn! 2NG just played Blondie's "In the Flesh"!

Today's retro-chart is from Oct 1980, BTW.

But meanwhile: OMG, the Undertones' "Wednesday Week" (NOT the Costello tune).

and 1980 begins with a Gilbert O'sullivan rarity (he was still around in '80?) and OMFG it's Ian Dury's "I Wanna Be Straight", followed by English Beat, "Best Friend" (the B-side of which was the anti-Thatcher "Stand Down Margaret").

wow -- Coffee, with their disco remake of "It's All Over, Casanova".

Specials! "Stereotype".  Interesting chart, to say the least.

a Tom Jones twin-spin on 2NG: "I Who Have Nothing" followed by --wow -- "Thunderball", one of the Bond themes you never hear.

and it's Barry DeVorzon month -- having heard "Nadia's Theme" on AT40 last week, now here's his Barry & the Tamerlanes incarnation, "Wonder What She's Doin' Tonite".  And I just ordered his "Xmas in SF" CD yesterday.

Holee crap: Dusty S's cover of "24 Hours From Tulsa". NTM and as fab as you'd expect.

a Friday morning on The Boardwalk. They play a lot of Daryl Hall solo stuff that is NTM and quite wonderful. "Justify" is quite nice indeed. Followed by Joe Simon's great "The Chokin' Kind". If you don't like the peach, walk on by the tree, baby.

Barbara Acklin's "Love makes a Woman" always makes my day.

JJ on KPOO gets all militant 'n' shit: Billy Paul's "Am I Black Enuf For Ya?" is followed by Lamont Dozier's still amazing "Fish Ain't Bitin' " -- Tricky Dick! Stop yo' s**t!

And Willie Hutch sends some "Love Power" to the OWS crowd.

ooo! here's DeeDee Sharp Gamble doing her soulful cover of "I'm Not in Love". And now it's Lou Rawls' "See You When I Get There". Lawd!
