gotta say my old pal Brian "the Cannon" Bannon has been stellar on 'LNG this morning: Delfonics, "Ready or Not"; Mama Cass, "Dreaam a Little Dream"; Troggs, "A Girl Like You"... Damn I've missed listening to them at work.

TANC, sorta: 1340 plays Dylan's "Things Have Changed" and I still say he copped the melody from "Just Dropped In (To See What Condition...)".

2NG's retro-chart is from Sept 1983 today. some great UK nuggets here.

http://www.chartstats.com/chart.php?week=19830903

#40: Annabel Lamb (who?) doing a technopop cover of "Riders on the Storm". NTM and it kinda works, actually.

holy crap: the Moodies "Blue World" is also NTM and Bowie/Metheny TOTALLY ripped this off 2 years later for "Falcon/Snowman". Find of the week. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=COCCp62oAy4

amd another NTM 45: JoBoxers, "Johnny Friendly" a song based on On the Waterfront (!)

aaack! "Sexy + 17"  You can't MAKE me listen!

OMFG! "Right Now" by the Creatures!!

OMFG2! Kraftwerk!!

Shalamar's "Disappearing Act" is also NTM -- Jody Watley right out front, and this sounds a lot like "Dead Giveaway"

back to this chart in time for --OMGWTFLOL --- Wham! "Club Tropicana"!

*swoon* - Spandau Ballet, "Gold"

*swoon* 2: KC's criminally neglected "Give it Up"

and at #1... UB40's "Red Red 'Trina"

But next week: 1968!!

lawdy lawdy 1340: they's-s-s-mokin' this morning with the Intrigues "In a Moment", the Dells' "Ear it on Our face", Al Wilson's "The Snake" and the Trammps' fantabulous "Hold Back the Night"

and now someone covering Johnnie Taylor's "Wall to wall"

it was wall-to-wall
and back-to-back
every chick I saw
was so finely stacked

LOL!

oh crap: WFUV's snazzy new audio player (they used to use a simple Windows Media Player link) doesn't work on my work computer. No more Scelsa or Crenshaw for me unless they change something.
