Raymond Jones, 52, keyboard player for the dance band Chic who had a versatile career as a songwriter, producer and musician with a variety of artists, died July 1 of pneumonia in Atlanta, GA.
Jones was only 19 when he joined Bernard Edwards’ and Nile Rodgers’ group Chic, playing keyboards on the international smashes “Good Times”, “Le Freak”  and “I Want Your Love” as well as Chic productions such as Diana Ross’s “Upside Down” and Sister Sledge’s “We Are Family.”  He later wrote and produced songs for five Spike Lee films, including "School Daze" in 1988 and "Do the Right Thing" in 1989.
Jones was born Dec. 13, 1958, in New York and raised in Laurelton, Queens.
His songwriting credits included "Stay With Me Tonight" which was a hit for Jeffrey Osborne, and he performed with Whitney Houston, Patti Labelle, Stephanie Mills, Talking Heads, Chaka Khan and Tom Tom Club, among others. Jones also was musical director for "The Keenan Ivory Wayans Show" on Fox-TV and released several solo albums.  More: http://www.eurweb.com/?p=117060
