"bald-headed Vincent" -- isn't that a euphemism (like "the one-eyed snake")?

LOL! Or it's one of those shorthand restaurant terms: "Hey, Cookie! Gimme a bald-headed Vincent on toast with a side-a spuds, willya?!"

Intruding into Beej's thread -- IT's MY 500th POST!!!!

Woo hoo!  Hmmm, what to say....

Billy Idol, Friday July 8th, San Jose Civic

We got there just a bit fashionably, so to speak.  Sadly, they start concerts on time these days.  With no opening act, Billy was already on stage, dancing with himself.  Probably my favorite of his hits, and he was getting it out of the way early.  May of been the first song, I don't know.  Anyway, we walked out onto the floor, watched a second or two, the turned around and headed for the restrooms -- it's a ways to San Jose.

After the restrooms, we stopped by the bar and mortgaged our futures on some drinks.  7 bucks for beer or cocktails!  I think I ended up paying more for drinks than I did for the tickets by nights end...

It was "festival" seating, though, with the turnout, it wasn't likely to turn into a Cincinnati Who-like tragedy any time soon.  There was plenty of room on the floor and Sharlene and I ended up about 50 feet back from the stage, center stage, with a fairly good view.  At least for me -- Sharlene claimed she could see fine, but I AM a foot taller.

Billy was in pretty fine form, and looks pretty good considering he's not all that young.  I have no idea how his voice is holding up, because the sound was just awful.  Couldn't pick out what he was singing except on the slower, quieter songs.  Same with Steve Stevens' guitar work -- couldn't pick it out of the general noise the rest of the guys were making.

Still, I rather enjoyed myself.  Sharlene, who's seen him before, was rather more dis-appointed.  She says he was much better before...

Great summary!  Maybe we should start a "live concert reviews" thread ...

One of the more difficult things with the stream of consciousness is finding topics that haven't been used in a while.  Since this originally was my 500th post, I glommed onto Beej's milestone thread.  If I would have found the Concert Thread topic first, I might have gone there...

I'm game. Not sure what my dinner plans are, but there's a bar/restaurant just up Broadway from the theater, at Broadway and Grand. Used to be the Hof Brau, but it's been cleaned up and has better food now days.

Still betting Mike's gonna hit 4,000 before I make 1K (post-wise, that is).

ETA: Yep, Mike's a lock--he's only got 12 posts to go; I'm at just over 20.
Let's get right to it.

Sometimes I use the search button on top to see if there's a place to put something I have an inkling has been discussed before.  I think a discussion about how to rearrange things, now that we've been here over a year, would be in place. I'm not sure having any more top-level choices is a good idea, it starts to get crazy when the main topics run off the screen.  But maybe we could condense, hybridize, start something new?  Maybe we should discuss this in the bottom category about forum feedback?
