I never really liked Elton John, so I don't remember this.  Must be from the first album?

Gaz faints, Mike gasps. Clutch the pearls!

First LP was in 1970 so he was well past that by '72. ;)

Actually Empty Sky was '69, and I was right, Honky Chateau was his 7th studio LP.

so are you counting 11/17/70 (live) and the Friends sndtk?

Pardon the time warp.  The whole mellow thing planted me firmly in my girlfriend's house in Santa Barbara, granola, Carole King, etc, and I hear EJ's "Your Song." My mental time machine was off by a couple of years of course.

Don't ever beg pardon for historical inaccuracy.  We may be pedantic, but it's never with a finger-wag.   ;)

2/25/11-Friday!! Taking a Smooth Ride Back to...1972!!

 1.  Carole King- Sweet Seasons
 2.  Boz Scaggs- Dinah Flo
(TV: Maude- Florida on being a maid/housekeeper)
  3.  Jimmy Cliff- Sitting In Limbo
 4.  Stephen Stills/Manassas- Johnny's Garden
 5.  Hot Tuna- Water Song
(News promo/election coverage)
 6.  Harry Nilsson- Coconut (BOS!!)
 7.  Michael Nesmith- Different Drum
(Movie: Heartbreak Kid)
 8.  Elton John- Suzie (Dramas)
 9.  Billy Preston- Outa-Space
(News: Nixon campaigning)
10. James Brown- Talkin' Loud & Sayin' Nothin'

Like a dull knife, AL's intern just ain't cuttin':  they listed the Nilsson tune as "The Coconut Song". Er, it's just called "Coconut".  Speaking of pedantry -- but I'm def wagging my finger at this one.  ;) (they also misspelled "Outa-Space" as "Out-a-Space")

and BTW, the Sat marathon will go '84, then 90, 78, 67 & 72. Saving the best 2 for last.

Perfect - if I get up early enough tomorrow, I can hear what I want from AT40 and then rerun some goodies.
