Satriani not a bad start IMHO

now that I'm logged in...

Hey Beej, Rastermon neeeds to borrow the tambourine until tomorrow.

(that was Eric Johnson)

Every time I heard that song I was <strong>Sure</strong> that was Satriani!
Whatsup with the html tags! Oh Well

For some reason, this app doesn't recongize angle brackets around code--it prefers the square brackets. [strong]Like this: [ ]. I hope. [/strong]

ETA: Or maybe not.
Let's get right to it.

If you petition Geoff to add them to the approved list it will work.  Just like he recently added the < strike/strike > tag.

If you need to use html, these are the only ones currently allowed:

b,i,u,pre,s,strike

I have added these on request.  Most of what you need to do is handled with the BBCode tags (the sqare bracket thingies) but if you have a request, just ask me.  We just added the strikethrough tags the other day!

Weird - mildly strange - weird?
Or weird - one of us is crazy & I hope it isn't me - weird?

Dave's vacay

Did anyone else get any inkling prior to Monday morning that DM would be out this week? Certainly, his time off is his own business, but usually he makes some mention of his impending absences, either on the morning show or within a 10@10 intro/back-announce. Just wondering if I missed something, or he was hush-hush about it this time.

(My other thought was that this might have been an unplanned family emergency of some sort, as Monday morning Annalisa made a comment to the effect of "Dave had to go visit his family" which doesn't lead one to believe it was a pleasure trip. Hope that's not the case--he does often take some time off around this time of year.)
Let's get right to it.

It was a surprise, but I don't think it was anything serious in Michigan -- Annalisa has been joking that he's visiting his "biological family" (as opposed to his SF "radio family", har har). There also doesn't seem to be any plan to do a June-A-Palooza/July-A-Palooza sked of live remotes this year, at least none mentioned so far.

I don't think I've interviewed for a job since 1977, so it's been a while.  I don't really know how to do it.  The principal was a real nice woman from Texas who is probably close to 20 years my junior.  Only one of my 5 professors last semester was older than me.  It's weird being old.  I still feel the same way inside as a young person, but oy! my knee!

LOL! Yeah, it is weird. But, as I said at my 40th b-day celebration this year- at least now I can legitimately yell at teenagers. "You stupid kids! You think you know everything! When I was your age..."

Now, if you'll excuse, there's some kids on my lawn....

BOS The Only One I Know. Think Deep Purple got any royalties for this one though? (Think Hush.)

I just posted a note about this song using Byrds lyrics, and then thought I should come over here to see if it had already been discussed, and lo and behold, a different song as well being used!  Maybe that was their schtick, being called Charlatans and all.  I'm not familiar with the band's music.  Do they habitually use other people's lyrics and riffs?

The whole genre had a fondness for covers and lifting wholesale.  The Happy Mondays had the compunction to retitle John Kongos's "He's Gonna Step on You Again" as "Step On" and give themselves a songwriting credit for their trouble; they also nabbed the gitchy-ya-ya's from "Lady Marmalade" sans credit for "Kinky Afro," which is perhaps the most bitter and cynical song of all time ("gitchy-gitchy-ya-ya hey / I had to crucify some brother today").  And the Soup Dragons had their biggest hit with a cover, namely, the Stones' "I'm Free."
“The choir of children sing their song.  They've practiced all year long.  Ding dong.  Ding dong.  Ding dong.”

Just a test b/c I have no idea what
pre
and s represent in HTML.

ETA: What DO they represent?  I don't have HTML disabled.

pre is usually for some preformatted text layout, and s is strike through.  You should check your  profile settings too, as there's a place there where you might need to allow html:

Always allow BBCode:    Yes     No
Always allow HTML:    Yes     No
